UPDATE: Victims in Guthrie Co. plane crash identified

GUTHRIE COUNTY, Iowa — 5:00 p.m. Saturday: The four victims in the Guthrie County plane crash have been identified.

49-year-old Edward Anderson was piloting the aircraft.

36-year-old Patrick Kellen and 15-year-old Samantha Clark of Le Mars, and 28-year-old Tyler Douvia of Merrill were all on board the aircraft as well.

They were on their way to Osceola for a hunting trip.

The Le Mars High School opened the school Saturday for students needing to speak to counselors.

3:00 p.m. Saturday: The Guthrie County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that four people have died in a small plane crash in west-central Iowa Friday evening.

Authorities say that Des Moines Air Traffic Control received a request for an emergency landing around 5:00 p.m. Friday for a single-engine aircraft at the Guthrie Center Airport.

The plane was being flown by a student pilot after the pilot had suffered a heart attack.

First responders from Guthrie Center and Panora were at the airport waiting for the aircraft, but it never arrived.

Des Moines Traffic Control reported that the aircraft had dropped off radar approximately 4 miles southwest of the Guthrie Center Airport.

It had left the Le Mars Municipal Airport around 4:15 p.m. and was traveling to Osceola.

The aircraft was spotted in a cow pasture by a Guthrie County resident just after 6:15 a.m. Saturday morning, southwest of 265th Street and Maple Avenue.

Authorities say all four people in the aircraft died at the scene. Their identities are not being released at this time.

The cause of the crash is pending and the crash site has been secured by investigators.

10:00 a.m. Saturday: Four people that boarded a plane Friday at the Le Mars Municipal Airport died when their plane crashed in rural Guthrie County, Iowa.

Le Mars Municipal Airport director, Tom Mullally, confirmed that three men and a 16-year-old girl were on the flight. They were on their way to a hunting trip.

The plane was found around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, southwest of Guthrie Center.
