Georgia Program Overview

Property Tax-Aide features three property tax relief programs in Georgia: Homestead Exemption for 65+, Disabled Veteran/Surviving Spouse Exemption, and the Standard Homestead Exemption. Some counties have increased the amounts of their homestead exemptions by local legislation above the amounts offered by the State. Generally, the exemptions offered by the county are more beneficial to the homeowner.

Homestead Exemption for 65+

Eligible taxpayers 65 years of age or over receive an exemption of $4,000 from all state and county property taxes. Through local option, counties may increase the amount of the exemption. For example, Fulton County provides a $50,000 homestead exemption for residents over the age of 65 with no income requirement.
